Woodturning: Embellishing Turned Objects

Woodturning: Embellishing Turned Objects

In this workshop students will be introduced to a wide variety of techniques that can be used to enhance their wood-turning projects. The embellishments that will be covered include colouring with dyes, paints, and gilding waxes, adding texturing using a wide range of tools, and even the addition of metal leaf. The workshop projects will include a decorative plate with painted rim and textured bottom, a decorative wide rim bowl coloured with analine dyes, gilding paste, metal leaf, and finally a practical cereal or snack bowl with a textured rim and coloured with food-safe milk paints. In addition to techniques covered in the class, other methods of colouring, texturing and enhancing wood will be discussed and demonstrated. Addition resources and some recommendations for success will also be provided.

This is a two day workshop. Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end at around 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street E., Owen Sound.
